Vacuum Heat Treating Additively Manufactured Parts

Digital Short Course

Additive manufacturing is a collection of computer-controlled manufacturing processes, each of which deposits material layer upon layer to build a part based on a digital solid model.

This digital short course uses rich visuals, narrated animations, and interactive quizzes to teach various vacuum heat treating processes for additively manufactured parts. It focuses on annealing and stress relieving, solid-solution annealing, and solution treating and aging. It addresses several practical concerns involved in using vacuum heat treatment, including temperature measurement, unvented cavities, loose powder, and direct contact of metals in the high-temperature vacuum. This digital short course provides information on sintering and evaporation of metals in vacuum furnaces. An introduction to the different types additive manufacturing processes is included.
